spray misty for me

to know me
 is to know
love
beauty
products.

and one of my favorite
(and of course unnecessary)
products
of the moment
is the
facial spray.

(especially now with the dry, cold wind of fall)

here are some
of the
best --

from left: sue devitt beauty microquatic luminous finishing mist (t-brain's fave),
sundari's omega 3 and raspberry tonic water (smells great),
two from sponge skincare --aromatherapia agrio tiantafillo (wild rose)
& aromatherapia giasemi (jasmine), canyon ranch age transforming hydramist
(perfect for travel or to store in your handbag) & my favorite --
rose depsea water facial mist by shu uemura.

it's a long way
 from the ol'
evian
bottle
in the fridge...

lagniappe No.15

my friend

 &
one of the most
talented
artists i know

opened up his
amazing
private studio
in
wicker park
last thursday night
for his
'inside the artist's studio"
show.

was
awestruck.

to have and to hold

{posey at el jeffe's brother's wedding may 2010}

there's
something
about
wedding
photos.

i could look at them
for
hours
&
hours.

i think i looked at
more than
she did.

so
i
was
delighted
to stumble
onto
website --

if
el jeffe & i
were to do it all
over again...

...but
 i guess
i'll just have to
settle for
our
old school
black & whites

{the ride to our wedding by my good friend andrea}

and
my
memories.

19.10.10

collect yourself

lisa congdon
is
obsessed with
collecting.

she is
on
day n°292
of her

i kind of
wonder
what her
house
looks
like...

18.10.10

super cool

not only is
the
where i get all of my
supplies

{for example:}

{my invisible plane, of course}

but the store has a
secret identity--
(like any good superhero)

sneak through a trick
bookcase
and you arrive at
the headquarters
of

826NYC

a not-for-profit
writing program
 that focuses
primarily on
kids ages 6 to 18.

encouraging writing
in any and all forms --
comics, fables, poetry, essays,
songs, short stories, novels,
and even teleplays --
the organization
(founded by writer dave eggers)
 seeks to help young people
express
themselves
 creatively and confidently
 through
the written word.

how super cool is that?

gonna throw away my
little black book right now
in the nearest trash can

i'm gonna push aside
the things i used to do
because i'm hanging up my
heart for you just for you

solomon burke
claimed to be the man
 for whom the term
"soul music"
was coined.

 he
died
 last week
at age
70.

he wrote those lyrics
&
el jeffe
sang them at
our
wedding.

godspeed, solomon burke.

holga

love
 the
camera

it's
utilitarian
and
whimsical
and
mysterious
and
great looking.

 all for

it's perfect
for
taking
snaps of
your favorite
place

or when
the
circus
comes to
town

is working on a digital
version of
the
holga --

the holga d.

"even though the
holga d
is a
 digital camera,
in order to achieve its
simplicity,
it reduces the feature set to
absolute minimum.
even the display is not there!
so your photographs remain
mysterious
until you download the images.
this makes the experience quite similar
to the good old
film based
 cameras."

bust a move, biswas.

shinrin-yoku

the japanese term
literally means
"forest bathing"
in
english

i love that.

they
have
found
 that by
 immersing
the
senses --

through the
odor of wood,
the sound of
 running stream water,
&
the scenery of the forest --

mood is elevated
&
stress is reduced

{here's what comes to mind:}

from top left: color pencil & brass holder set, antique belgian deer trophy, vintage
binoculars, nature necklace, rag & bone northfield poncho, faux-bois
packing tape & stickers , kid's owl tee, wood ring, aesop lip balm,
rabbit fur scarf & teeny fur bag, bird call, gothic faux-bois mirror
field notes, cross-cut cheese board

*******

btw.
if you want your very own
forest
to walk in
check

out

sometimes you want a drink
when the bar has
closed.

or smack
 dab
in the
middle
of the
night.

the honesty bar is
a good idea.

are lousy
with them.

but i've only
experienced one
in the u.s.

at
the
in
new orleans

it's a good thing too...

really
needed
 it.
